 Be careful of inspection only contracts

Some companies are selling inspection only contracts with damage repair coverage.These companies will not treat your house!! 

We commend the companies for their environmental concerns. The question is, "Is this a good deal." Well, let's see:

A. Everyone is charged the same, around $340.00 per year. It does not matter if its 800 square feet or 10,000 square feet. Something is wrong with that!

B. Are they selling insurance or termite protection? No matter how you try to make it something, it is not. If it looks like and sounds like insurance, it probably is. One of the things that the industry has told people to look out for is companies that said you were buying insurance because termite companies are not insurance companies.

C. You must wait till you get termites before they treat anything. They say they will pay for all the damage, but will they? Check their past history.  That statement may not be reality.

D. Let's take a look at a 1500 square foot house over 6 years and see the difference.

     1. The inspection only contract is $340.00 the first year plus another $1700.00 for the next 5 years for a total of $2040.00.

     2. Traditional treatments will cost on an average $595.00 for a Termidor treatment the first year. Plus 5 years of renewals at an average of $140.00 per year or $700.00 over 5 years. That equals a total of $1295.00.

That's a savings of over $745.00 over 5 years with the traditional treatment program.
